Kid's Rock Running Series

Our 2012-2013 Rock for Kids running series began in October, 2012 with our Zombie Run/Walk.  We have two more run/walk events for kids that will take place before the school year is out. Bass Pro Shops and Care to Learn are partners in providing this kid's run/walk serices.  Stay tuned to this page as we add more details about each event. Our 2012-13 schedule is ready to go!  Click here for a flyer noting the dates of all three of our events for the academic year.  Put these on your calendar now!

The more kids that walk, run, ride their bikes or take part in any physical activity,  the more the message of health and wellness is integrated into Springfield.  Parents/guardians may run/walk with their children in each event.  If parents/guardians wish to have a t-shirt, they must register and pay the fee for each event.

What is Rock4Kids?

Kids in the Springfield area may take part in this Rock4Kids program. The children participating in Rock4Kids count the times that they exercise, read a book and do the right thing (i.e., perform an act of kindness, volunteer, etc.). We are using the marathon distance as a concept for points. Kids will track 25 points over a period of time and complete the marathon concept by choose a distance to walk or run in one of our events.  They can turn their tracking sheets in on the morning of the Zombie Run.  They do not have to complete the tracking forms to participate.

Tracking forms are available here.

Why ROCK4KIDS?

We know that kids ROCK, and we want to remind them of four ways they can build a better life for themselves. Our overall goal for this program is to promote wellness of mind, body and spirit for kids in the Ozarks.

Read - We want kids to enhance their academic abilities by keeping a reading log and challenging themselves to continue learning through independent reading or being read to as ability levels allow.
Right - We want kids to do the right thing by thinking about how they can improve their own lives, the lives of others, the environment, etc.
Run - We want kids to be active, stay active and improve their overall health and wellness.
Repeat - We want kids to understand that these things are worth doing for a lifetime and therefore, should be repeated!
